Opinião 14
Installation, manipulated magazines
Variable dimensions
In 2014 during the Brazilian presidential election campaign, Salvatore acquired, on a weekly base, in some newspaper stands in Rio de Janeiro a series of political magazines.
He replaced its covers and back covers, rewrote all their texts unformatted, both news and advertising, on plain white pages, without any of the images published both for advertising and journalism.
Salvatore then put the magazines back in circulation on the newsstands where they were acquired and exposed the tension between information and persuasion in the contemporary news industry.
In 2015, in occasion of the exhibition Fragmento Salvatore installed weekly for the duration of a month, a series of these manipulated magazines, Opinião 15, in the display windows of the iconic Piauí newsstand in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro.
